The Watts SD3 is a dual check with atmospheric port specifically designed to protect the water supply from carbon dioxide gas and carbonated water. These acidic substances can flow from post-mix beverage systems and pose a risk of leaching copper salts into the water supply if they come into contact with copper tubing or pipes. Consuming water contaminated with dissolved copper can lead to symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, and vomiting.

The SD3 serves as a preventive measure against the reverse flow of potentially contaminated water back into the potable water supply. In case the second check valve becomes clogged, the vent port opens to the atmosphere, allowing any water or CO2 gas from the downstream piping to be discharged. This ensures that contaminated water, such as carbon dioxide gas and carbonated water, does not enter your potable water supply due to backpressure.

This kit is perfect for use with post-mix carbonated beverage equipment, as well as tea or coffee dispensers. It includes first and second check assemblies, making it suitable for both continuous and intermittent pressure applications. The SD3 can be installed either horizontally or vertically and features a corrosion-resistant stainless steel body, internal rubber components, a wye pattern strainer, female NPT inlet with SAE male flare outlet connections, and an atmospheric port that provides visual indication of any failure.
